At Temple Beth Shalom, our Adult Education-Jewish Studies Program seeks to enhance Jewish education, culture, and identity in a warm, welcoming setting. We provide mental stimulation and socialization, by presenting topics of interest pertaining to Jewish life using lectures, films, music, and humor.

Some of our recent programs have included such varied topics as: Memories That Won’t Go Away—A Tribute to the Children of the Kindertransport — Michelle Gold, a concert by world acclaimed American Yiddish singer—Naomi Miller entitled Yiddish is in My Genes, Stiller and Meara by Ira Epstein, On the Wings of an Eagle (the dramatic rescue of the Yemenite Jews and the pivotal role played by Alaska Airlines) just to name a few.

For the last several years, we have been proud to be able to host the Israel Scouts (Tzofim).

Every year we seek to add new and varied programs. On behalf of our committee, we invite you to not only attend our events, but we welcome new additions to our Adult Education-Jewish Studies committee.

Adult Education – Jewish Studies Committee is comprised of the following members: Marion Fisher, Michael Hamerman (Chairperson), Nora Hamerman, Phyllis Kinsler, Beverly Kornfeld, Gloria Leisner, Bob Schaier, Lila Schaier, Arlene Siegel, Ettie Singman, Sheldon Strauss, Harriet Strumeier, Hy Wasserman, and Yvonne Weinreb.
